-          ICT is the future of education

Education is always changing. I think, we are living in a society that I always changing and for that reason it is very important learning methodologies progress. 

Years ago, education was much directed. Teachers and books had the absolute truth and children weren’t creative, imaginative, critical… Teachers gave them everything. Now, I think teachers want children to be autonomy. They are the protagonists of their education. It is very important that education is evolving with society. 

Now we are living in a period that communication technologies are very important in our society. For this, I think is important to include ICT in classrooms and to form professionals of teaching with new technologies.

Hello Karen!

How are you? First of all, thank you for your last letter and for your wedding invitation! Congratulations!

My girlfriend and I will come. I think you don’t know the news in my life. I stopped work up and started studying again. I decided to look for my dream and I am studying teacher education. To pay my studies I am working in a gym teaching judo, that you know, I love it.

The first year at college is being hard because I need to study a lot and do a lot of projects. But I am excited about my studies and I think I will be able to pass all my exams.

LAPTOPS OR BOOKS?

Nowadays, new technologies are very important in our society. More and more, private and public companies use computers in their daily work. Technologies advance day by day, very quickly, and companies ask people about their computer knowledge when they are looking for work. For that reason people need to learn about new technologies. But new technologies are also affecting the education system.

It’s important to start learning computer science from an early age to create a good base, because nowadays new technologies, the same as language learning, are very important in our society. We have, as future teachers, the responsibility to educate children for their adult life. But we can’t forget books because they are also a big source of information and a part of our culture.

I think that laptops should be in classrooms as an accessory and as an educational tool to use in all subjects, but never to substitute books. Maybe, it’s enough with a computer classroom in each school and with a computer for each child in the class.

Books and laptops are two tools that complement each other and both are important.

All about me

I was born on the carnival day in Eivissa twenty-five years ago, where I have lived all my life. I lived in a flat in the city centre with my family. Nowadays, I’m very happy because I have my own house in Puig de’n Valls where I moved last year. There I live with my girlfriend, Lorena and our dog, Bianka.

When I finished high school I started to work because I didn’t want to carry on studying. I worked for one year with my father in his electrical company. But I didn’t enjoy this job and I decided to study again. As I like children a lot I started a vocational training course in Infant Education. At the same time I was studying I also worked in al Italian restaurant. When I started that course, I though that it could help me to start physical education or primary teaching Education at University, but the experience  in  vocational training course made me decide to continue my education in Infant Education.
